Charlie Kirk reportedly named wife Erika as TPUSA successor before deathCandace Owens questions Charlie Kirk audio as TPUSA refuses release
Candace Owens has questioned claims that Charlie Kirk chose wife Erika Kirk as his successor at Turning Point USA before his assassination. Owens cast doubt on the authenticity of an audio recording allegedly captured during a private Aspen donor retreat and demanded the release of full video footage. TPUSA has refused, citing donor privacy concerns, further fueling online debate and controversy.

The future of Turning Point USA has become the centre of a fresh political storm months after the death of founder Charlie Kirk. New reports surrounding a private donor retreat in Aspen are now fueling online debates, leadership questions, and growing tensions involving conservative commentator Candace Owens. At the heart of the controversy is a reported conversation from 2025 in which Kirk allegedly revealed who he wanted leading Turning Point USA if something ever happened to him. The resurfaced claims have triggered sharp reactions online because the recording itself has never been publicly released.

According to reports reviewed by Daily Mail, Kirk answered a question about succession planning during a private donor retreat in Aspen, Colorado, months before his assassination in September 2025.“What a great question,” Kirk reportedly responded before outlining his vision for the organization’s future leadership.“I appoint my wife to run Turning Point USA if something happens to me. Erika would do a great job,” he allegedly said during the gathering. The comments gained major attention after TPUSA’s board unanimously voted to appoint Erika Kirk as CEO only days after Charlie Kirk’s death.Several donors reportedly told Daily Mail they remembered the conversation clearly. One board member claimed the leadership transition plan was already widely understood internally.“The board already knew what the plan was because they talked about it with Charlie, everybody knew,” the source reportedly explained. The resurfaced claims have intensified discussions surrounding TPUSA’s future direction, especially as the organization continues navigating one of the most emotional chapters in its history.

While some conservatives accepted the succession story immediately, Candace Owens openly challenged the authenticity of the recording played during AmericaFest.“The more I listen to it, the more AI it sounds,” Owens said on her podcast.Owens later increased pressure on TPUSA by demanding the organization publicly release the full Aspen retreat footage.“Why won’t they release the video? Surely, if they captured the audio they have the video,” Owens wrote on X.“The claim made is that at an Aspen retreat weeks before his death, Charlie answered a donor who asked ‘what would happen if you died’ to which he replied that he would want Erika to take over. I would like to see the video of that.”Owens later added: “Precisely. It would certainly go a long way is dispelling the narrative that Erika wanted his position for herself. Seems like an easy PR win to release the footage.”TPUSA, however, has refused to release the video publicly. Organization representatives reportedly argued that donor privacy policies prevent them from sharing recordings from private investor gatherings. As the political and online fallout continues, the unresolved questions surrounding the recording are only adding more fuel to an already emotional debate.
