Chaitra Purnima is one of the most days in Hindu religion. The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. Purnima falls every month on 15th day of Shukla paksha. Chaitra Purnima 2026: Significance
Purnima is the one of the most significant days in Hindu religion that falls on 15th day of Shukla Paksha every month. Purnima that falls in the month of Chaitra is also known as Chaitra Purnima. On this sacred day, devotees of Lord Vishnu observe fast from dawn to dusk dedicated to one of the forms of Lord Vishnu, Lord Satyanarayan and seek his blessings on this special day. It is believed that on during full moon night, the divine rays of moon falls on earth and people are advised to sit under the Full moon to seek the blessings of Moon God also. On Chaitra Purnima day, Hanuman Jayanti will also be celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor across the country. The day marks the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman. People conduct puja, chant mantras organise Ramayana path, Sundar Path and visit Hanuman temple to seek blessings of Lord Hanuman.
Krishna Raas Leela on Chaitra Purnima 2026:
On this auspicious day, Lord Krishna is believed to have performed Raas with Radha and other gopis in Brij. Using his heavenly power (Yogmaya), Lord Shri Krishna danced with each of them throughout the entire night. Krishna and Radha Raasleela symbolize the unity of soul with the divine soul, and this day is celebrated with tremendous delight and enthusiasm in Mathura and Brij. In Mathura, Vrindavan, Brij, and other notable locations, a special Puja and Bhog are held on this day.
