Only hours after her friend and fellow musician, Dare, debuted it at his latest show for PinkPantheress in Brooklyn. XCX was quick to drop it on her channels as well.Officially saying goodbye to her ‘BRAT’ era, she sings, “I think the dance floor is dead/So now we’re making rock music.” Synthesized and hard-hitting vocals, paired well with distorted guitar sounds, the theme for her new era seems to be going far off from her previous tunes, and the fans are here for it. The song has been released in collaboration with A.G. Cooke and Finn Keane, who was previously known as EasyFun.The entire video has been made in black and white tone and shows the singer roaming around the city, along with shots of her smoking while sitting next to a large pile of burning cigarettes.Only a few days ago, the singer had taken to her social media account to share a glimpse of her recording the new song and recording it in October last year at the Paris’ Rue Boyer Studios. The post was shared along with the caption, “a video of me making a song called ‘rock music’ that is not actually rock music, which is funny because I never said I was making a rock album.”
