Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey admitted that the five-time champions now have no room for error after their defeat to Lucknow Super Giants left their IPL 2026 playoff hopes hanging by a thread.CSK suffered a heavy setback on Friday as LSG chased down 188 comfortably, powered by a blistering 90 off 38 balls from Mitchell Marsh on a lively Ekana Stadium surface. The defeat left Chennai stranded on 12 points from 13 matches, meaning they now likely need to win both remaining league games, while also depending on other results, to qualify for the playoffs.Despite the difficult situation, Hussey remained optimistic and said the team would approach every remaining fixture like a knockout match.“Well, I mean, I actually love this time of the tournament because it’s like every game is like a final, you know, and we’re in that situation now,” Hussey said, with CSK now needing victories in both their remaining games while also relying on a few other results to go in their favour.“We’re going to have to win our last two matches. I mean, I haven’t studied the table that closely. Yeah, there’s a lot of teams fighting out for that probably the last couple of spots in the top-four,” he said.“This is where (stage of the tournament) the pressure is really on everyone, not just us, but all the other teams as well. And you can see some crazy things happen. So we’re still (in with) a chance…we still have belief that we can make it through,” he said during the post-match press conference.Speaking after the match during the post-match presentation, Gaikwad remained calm despite the setback and insisted that the qualification scenario is “simple” for his side going forward.”Well, first challenge is getting to Chennai. It’s a long flight. After that, just make sure we comeback and improve what are the areas we need to improve and yes, try and adapt and assess the conditions as quickly as possible and it is a simple calculation for us. Win each and every game for how much ever games we play. So I think nothing simple. I mean, it is simple, nothing complicated. So quite easy here on for us. Nothing to worry about. Just make sure we have a good day. Make it count whoever has a good day and hope that we hope that we turn the things around” Gaikwad Said.
