Dan Levy breaks down as he talks about the 'Schitt's Creek' sequel idea after Catherine O'Hara's passing
Dan Levy has revealed he was considering a ‘Schitt’s Creek’ sequel before Catherine O’Hara’s passing. He now states a revival is impossible without the beloved actress, calling her irreplaceable. Levy expressed deep emotion discussing his memories with O’Hara, emphasizing that her absence has definitively ended any plans for the Rose family’s story to continue.

Her absence has made it abundantly clear to Dan that the show simply can’t continue without her.During a recent episode of CBS News Sunday Morning, Dan opened up about his creative plans and where his heart stands now. No sequel without Catherine O’Hara “No,” Dan Levy said simply. “Not now. You can’t.” Visiting Ontario, Canada, where ‘Schitt’s Creek’ was filmed, affected him emotionally during the interview. “It’s tough, it’s tough being back,” he said, his voice breaking. “I didn’t think that I’d have quite an emotional reaction.”

Memories are what remain

During the interview, Dan Levy became emotional when discussing his time working with Catherine O’Hara. “Just a lot of memories. Memories with Catherine,” he said. When reflecting on what those memories mean to him, he added: “It’s what you have to hold onto is the memories of it all.”

A lasting legacy

Following Catherine O’Hara’s passing at age 71, Dan Levy shared a tribute on Instagram on Jan. 30. The actress passed away from a pulmonary embolism with rectal cancer as the underlying cause.“What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O’Hara’s brilliance for all those years,” he wrote. “I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her.”Dan Levy, who co-created ‘Schitt’s Creek’, also reflected on Catherine O’Hara’s relationship with his father, Eugene Levy.“Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family,” he said in the post. “It’s hard to imagine a world without her in it.”With Catherine O’Hara no longer with them, the possibility of continuing the Rose family’s story has been put to rest.
