Suvinder Pal Vicky is basking in praise for his impactful performance as Brigadier Jahangir in Dhurandhar 2. From the viral “Aa gaya Pandu” dialogue to the disturbing tongue sequence, the actor’s portrayal has struck a chord with audiences. In a recent chat, he opened up about the character’s layered personality, the intense scenes, and the response coming his way.

‘That acidity in his language is the right word’

Speaking about Brigadier Jahangir’s sharp, almost harsh tone, Suvinder explained that it stems from deep-rooted frustration.“That frustration is a key part of Brigadier Jahangir. He’s someone who has seen power… especially around the 1971 war, and now he can’t exercise that control anymore. His son is also not following his path. That helplessness and frustration define him,” he told Faridoon Shahryar. He added, “At the same time, the character has many harsh traits—you may even feel hatred towards him. He is foul-mouthed, patriarchal, and aggressive. That ‘acidity’ in his language is the right word for him.”

The viral ‘Aa gaya Pandu’ moment

Apart from the intensity, one dialogue that has caught on with audiences is “Aa gaya Pandu”, which is now widely being shared online.“It feels great when people talk about your work, make memes, and your dialogues become popular—it’s like food for an actor,” Suvinder said.He revealed that the moment came organically during the shoot. “That tone, that laugh—it all came very naturally from within. It was about building that internal frustration and then letting it out in that moment.”

The shocking tongue scene with Arjun Rampal

Another major talking point has been the disturbing tongue-pulling sequence featuring Arjun Rampal. Suvinder shared that the scene was performed with minimal rehearsal to retain realism.“We didn’t over-rehearse. I told Arjun, ‘Do whatever you need to for the scene.’ He even asked if I was comfortable, and I said yes. The more real it feels, the better it is,” he said.He added, “When someone is pulling your tongue, the pain is real, so that helps the performance. We wanted it to feel organic rather than staged.”Talking about the emotional shift within the sequence, he said, “There’s helplessness—he calls out, but he’s physically not in a position to do much. So he tries to soften his approach.”

‘People now recognise me as Brigadier saab’

Reacting to the overwhelming response, the actor expressed gratitude.“Thank you so much for the praise and encouragement. I always try to give my 100 percent. The rest is up to the audience—their love means everything,” he said.Suvinder also revealed that his portions were completed in a tight schedule.“It was an indoor shoot done over one night and a day. There were costume and physical changes between scenes, especially for the tub sequence, which required a lot of preparation,” he shared. The actor admitted that Dhurandhar 2 has brought him widespread recognition.“Earlier, people would ask if I was an actor. Now they recognise me instantly as ‘Brigadier saab.’ That’s a big change,” he said, adding that offers have started coming his way.

On co-stars and the craft

Praising Arjun Rampal, Suvinder said, “Brilliant. Effortless. He’s an energetic and fantastic co-actor.”He also spoke about Ranveer Singh, calling him “a very great actor,” and added, “Acting is a process—you learn with every project.”Looking ahead, Suvinder remains focused on growth.“I just hope I continue getting good work and earn a strong identity as an actor. That’s what every artist aspires for,” he said.
