‘First thing I saw’: TPUSA reporter 'shocked' by blessings for ‘job visa’ sign inside Hindu temple in Texas

A Turning Point USA reporter said she was shocked after seeing a sign inside a Hindu temple in North Texas offering blessings for “job visas.”Savanah Hernandez posted on X that she had visited the Karya Siddhi Hanuman temple in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas-Fort Worth, as part of a video documenting cultural and demographic changes in the area, especially the rising Indian population in the state. She shared a picture of a sign that read: “Seek blessings for health, job visa and any other problems.” Hernandez wrote, “Still in shock that I walked into an Indian temple in Texas and the first thing I saw was blessings for ‘job visas’.”In a previous post on X, Hernandez explained her visit along with a 30-minute video exploring the rising Indian culture in the deep-red state: “Texans have been saying that their state is starting to look unrecognizable, so I went to North Texas to go check it out. From streets named ‘Ali Akbar’ to residents stating that Texas is now ‘mini-India”Her TPUSA documentary shows the rapid growth of Indian and Muslim communities in towns such as Frisco, Plano and Irving. The video features interviews with local residents who are concerned about the rapidly changing culture and influx of Indian immigrants, parks converted to cricket fields, festivals like Holi, and new religious infrastructure. Hernandez also shows temples with large idols, grocery stores, streets with names having South Asian heritage, and Indian residents in traditional attire. At the temple, Hernandez showcased practices typical in Hindu worship, such as removing footwear and praying to multiple deities. She described the temple as “very large” and “intricate.”The video was criticised by some users who said Hernandez was reporting on a religious space, while MAGA supporters used her footage to voice anti-Indian and anti-immigrant views. One wrote on X: “Texas is being conquered by both Muslims AND Indians thanks to the Texas GOP. An explosion of mosques and now an Indian temple honouring a monkey god”Frisco has become a hotspot for debates about immigration and population changes. City council meetings have been filled with claims of an “Indian takeover” and concerns about visa rules that are “replacing” American workers. Between 2023 and 2025, online hate against Indians in the US reportedly more than doubled.
