Actor Randeep Hooda is discovering a new side of himself, and he couldn’t be happier about it. Two months after welcoming daughter Nyomica with wife and athlete-actor Lin Laishram in March, Hooda says fatherhood has brought him a kind of quiet joy he has not experienced since his teenage years, changing how he feels about going home at the end of each working day.
Randeep Hooda on what fatherhood feels like
In a candid conversation with Mid-Day, Randeep Hooda described the unexpected emotional shift that has come with becoming a father for the first time. He said, “As a person, I feel a bit weaker in the knees. I want to go home more than ever since I got married because it is another reason to go back to. I often find myself sitting in a corner and smiling to myself thinking of my daughter.”With just two months of fatherhood under his belt, Hooda says he is very much still a student of the role, and his parents have already weighed in on what it means. He said, “I am still a new dad. It has been two months, but there is more to discover every day. As my parents say, it is the best achievement of my life.”

A natural question for any new parent in the public eye is whether having a child shifts creative decisions. Hooda says his compass has always been set the same way.In the same conversation, he said, “I have never made choices that will embarrass me later in front of my kids or anybody else’s kids. So, that is not going to change.”

On the work front, Randeep Hooda will next be seen in ‘Eetha’, directed by Laxman Utekar and based on the life of Tamasha artiste Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, also starring Shraddha Kapoor. The film has recently wrapped filming.
