In a recent update, IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has announced the introduction of a fuel charge on both domestic and international flights starting 14 March 2026. The charges will be applicable to all new bookings made from 00:01 hours on March 14. The decision comes after the airline struggles with a surge in fuel costs triggered by ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. As per the airline, data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Jet Fuel Monitor indicates that fuel prices have increased by over 85%. It means fluctuations in fuel prices can have a direct impact on ticket costs.
