Court grants injunction in favor of Kajol in personality rights case

According to the reports, the single-judge bench, headed by Justice Jyoti Singh, issued a notice after the actress filed a suit. She granted interim protection, restraining the defendants from using Kajol’s photographs and other personality attributes while selling commercial merchandise without her authorization. The judge further directed the authorities for immediate removal of adult and objectionable content, which is being circulated on various platforms in her name. The Delhi High Court observed that prima facie, the plaintiff had made out a case for protection of her personality and publicity rights against unauthorized commercial exploitation and misuse.A detailed directive would be passed restraining the misuse of the actress’ personality traits, like her name, image, voice, and other identifiable attributes, using artificial intelligence and deepfake tech. The temporary relief was granted after the actress sought protection against the misuse of her personality rights.
