Announcing the general manager’s exit, the team took to X/Twitter and stated, “New Jersey Devils Managing Partner David Blitzer announced today that Tom Fitzgerald will depart the organization.”As per reports, a change in general manager often leads to a broader organizational reset, with incoming leadership typically preferring to appoint their new coaching staff. And with a disappointing season this year, this raises the question about whether Keefe will remain behind the bench or move forward like Fitzgerald.Speaking about the situation, head coach Keefe stated, “It’s not a good feeling to hear the news. Not a better feeling today, frankly. He further added, “I certainly hope to be a part of the solution here. Obviously, they’ve got some decisions to make on who the new general manager and what the leadership of the team looks like. … I’ll be a part of that discussion and evaluation.
