A new logistics link between the UAE and Saudi Arabia is being put in place as regional supply chains face pressure from ongoing geopolitical tensions linked to the US–Israel–Iran conflict. Saudi Ports has announced a trade bridge connecting Sharjah with Dammam, aimed at making cargo movement across the Gulf faster and more reliable. The corridor is designed to move goods more smoothly between the two cities by combining sea and land transport into one system. Instead of handling shipments separately at different stages, the plan connects ports with inland logistics networks, which is expected to cut transit time and reduce delays. It also focuses on better coordination between ports and distribution hubs so that cargo moves with fewer disruptions. The project is being developed through a partnership between the Saudi Ports Authority and Gulftainer. It will offer direct connectivity between Sharjah and Dammam, allow goods to move across multiple transport modes more easily, and speed up cross-border cargo handling. The closer link between ports and inland distribution centres is expected to improve how shipments are processed and delivered. For businesses, the corridor is expected to make trade routes more dependable. It should help improve cargo flow, strengthen distribution systems, and reduce uncertainty in transport timelines. This is particularly important for companies that rely on steady movement of goods across Gulf markets. At a broader level, the initiative is expected to strengthen trade ties between the UAE and Saudi Arabia while supporting the growth of regional commerce. Officials believe the corridor will help businesses reach markets faster and build stronger, more resilient supply chains across key sectors.
