Days after news broke of actor Nicholas Brendon‘s sudden demise, details about his death are now coming to light. The actor, best known for his role in the sci-fi series, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, was reportedly ‘found dead’ at his Indiana residence by a friend. New details reveal that the actor was living alone, but had a long-time friend staying overnight to help and provide care. As per a TMZ report, the actor was found dead on March 20 at the age of 54.
Coroner releases statement on Nicholas Brendon’s demise
According to Putnam County Coroner Todd Zeiner, he was notified on Monday and, upon arrival, found “an adult male positioned as if asleep” who had already been pronounced dead. The coroner noted that the time of death was shortly before the body was found, though the exact time remains unclear. The report further states that preliminary investigations reveale “no signs of foul play, and nothing at the scene indicated the death was anything other than natural.”An autopsy and toxicology results are currently pending.
Nicholas Brendon’s family issues statement
Family members had previously reported that the actor suffered from cardiac issues – a congenital heart defect diagnosis, and a heart attack in 2023. In their note, the family wrote, “We are heartbroken to share the passing of our brother and son, Nicholas Brendon. He passed in his sleep of natural causes. Most people know Nicky for his work as an actor and for the characters he brought to life over the years. In recent years Nicky has found his passion in painting and art. Nicky loved to share his enthusiastic talent with his family, friends and fans. He was passionate, sensitive, and endlessly driven to create. Those who truly knew him understood that his art was one of the purest reflections of who he was. While it’s no secret that Nicholas had struggles in the past, he was on medications and treatment to manage his diagnosis and he was optimistic about the future at the time of his passing. Our family asks for privacy during this time as we grieve his loss and celebrate the life of a man who lived with intensity, imagination, and heart. Thank you to everyone who has shown love and support.”
Sarah Michelle Gellar pays tribute
Nicholas’ co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar paid a heartfelt tribute in a social media post, that read, “They’ll never know how tough it is to be the one who isn’t chosen. I saw you Nicky. I know you are at peace, in that big rocking chair in the sky.”
