For many children, memorising and reciting a Sanskrit composition like the Shiv Tandav Stotram would itself require immense dedication and practice. Eight-year-old Om N. from Karnataka’s Sirsi has now earned a place in the International Book of Records after reciting the Shiv Tandav Stotram while performing a wall-supported hands-free Shirshasana – a feat that required concentration, balance, and discipline at a remarkably young age.According to details shared by the International Book of Records, Om completed the performance in 3 minutes and 47 seconds on February 15, 2026.

A feat that demanded more than memory

The challenge involved maintaining a difficult yoga posture while continuing the rhythmic Sanskrit recitation without interruption. Doing both together requires breath control, physical stability and mental focus. At just eight years and two days old, Om managed to execute the attempt while remaining upside down in a wall-supported hands-free Shirshasana, setting a new world record in the process. The feat also reflects how practices such as Sanskrit chanting and yoga continue to resonate among younger generations. Om’s performance brought together both elements in an unusual way, turning an ancient devotional composition into a record-setting moment.

Internet reacts

Social media users responding to the record praised the child’s focus and commitment. Several called the performance “inspiring,” while others admired the balance of spirituality, memory skills and physical control involved in the attempt. At an age when most children are still discovering their hobbies, Om has already added a world record to his name – in a way that few would attempt.Note: The video included here shows only a short portion of the performance. The full recording has been shared by the International Book of Records on its official platform.Thumb image: International Book of Records
