Poonam Dhillon CLARIFIES CINTAA's stance on 'Don 3' controversy: ‘Ranveer Singh could have involved us’
As the ‘Don 3’ controversy continues to grow, CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon has spoken out, expressing surprise that neither Ranveer Singh, Excel Entertainment, nor FWICE informed the association before the non-cooperation directive was issued. Dhillon believes the situation could have been resolved amicably had CINTAA been approached in time.

The fallout from Ranveer Singh‘s exit from ‘Don 3’ has stirred up more than just headlines, it has pushed the entire industry into uncharted territory. As tensions between the actor and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) continue to rise, the Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), the body that represents actors, has now stepped into the conversation.

Poonam Dhillon surprised CINTAA was not consulted before non-cooperation directive

Veteran actor and CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon spoke to Variety India and said she was both surprised and concerned by how things had played out. She pointed out that Ranveer is a member of CINTAA, yet the association was not consulted or informed by anyone before the “non-cooperation directive” was issued.

Poonam Dhillon says CINTAA has been kept in the dark amid Rs 45 crore loss reports

Reports of a Rs 45 crore loss for Excel Entertainment following Ranveer’s sudden exit from ‘Don 3’ have been circulating, but Dhillon made it clear that CINTAA has been kept entirely in the dark through it all. “CINTAA as an association would have liked to be at least approached by both the parties or either of the parties if there was a problem. But since we were not approached either by the artists or by the production or by the Federation, we are a bit at a loss for what to say because we don’t have the detailed information,” she says.

Poonam Dhillon says Ranveer Singh could have approached CINTAA to resolve the issue

Dhillon was careful not to jump to conclusions without having the full picture. “Till I have the right information, I cannot give an opinion on a situation because what we have heard already is what we have read in the media. It’s a very strange situation to be in because it’s one of our members, but neither has the artist or the producer or the Federation informed us or taken us into confidence,” she adds. When asked about the serious toll this directive could take on Ranveer’s career, Dhillon felt the whole situation could have been handled very differently. “We could have tried to resolve the issue. That is what our association is there for – to resolve such issues or for disputes or any kind of problems which come between an actor and a producer. Ranveer, being a part of CINTAA, could have involved us and approached us so we could have tried to resolve the issue in a more amicable way,” she explained.

Poonam Dhillon urges film fraternity to honour professional commitments

Stopping short of pointing fingers at either side, Dhillon used the moment to send a broader message to the film fraternity about honouring professional commitments. “I would like every actor to keep their commitments in the best possible way. If there are any issues, they should handle them and, if needed, approach the association, and we can resolve them together. Because the fact is that we don’t really know much. So I cannot say that he is wrong or [they are] wrong. I don’t know,” she shares. Also Read : Producers of Ranveer Singh’s upcoming projects may approach CCI amidst FWICE non-cooperation directive over ‘Don 3’ dispute
