Mollywood celebs Priyadarshan and Lissy got married on December 13, 1990, had parted ways in September 2016. Now, in a surprising yet heartwarming turn of events, the ‘Kunjali Marakkar’ director has reportedly confirmed that they are back together.
Rumours turn into reality
Speculation about their reconciliation began earlier this year. In January, the duo was spotted together at filmmaker Sibi Malayil’s son’s wedding.The rumours gained further momentum on March 16 when Lissy shared a picture featuring herself, Priyadarshan, and superstar Mammootty with the caption, “It was an absolute delight and honour to have the legendary Padmabhushan Sri Mammootty with us at Le Magic Lantern for the voice recording of the much – anticipated pan – Indian Malayalam film PATRIOT. Mammukka looked as captivating as ever – his mesmerizing aura and vibrant energy are timeless, just like in his 30s. Wishing the entire team the very best as they bring this vision to the screen.”
Reunion is official
As quoted by Mid Day website, “Now the reunion is official. After hearing news of them patching up, Mammootty asked them to come to Priyadarshan’s studio in Chennai where he was dubbing. The actor has known both closely as he worked with Lissy on several films, and has been directed by Priyan. He told them that he was happy to see them together again.”
Children and companionship
Reportedly the family played a significant role in bringing them back together. Their children — Kalyani Priyadarshan and Siddharth Priyadarshan — were among the key reasons behind the reunion.Mid Day source revealed that the decision was not sudden, “This decision was taken six to eight months ago. The couple won’t remarry. To them, marriage is just a certificate; friendship, companionship, and love are more important.”Confirming the development with the same portal, Priyadarshan said, “Except for a marriage certificate, we are living the same life together.”
A look back at the past
Interestingly, this is not the first time such rumours surfaced. Back in 2017, there were similar speculations about a possible reconciliation. At that time, Lissy had firmly denied the reports through a detailed Facebook post.She had written, “There has been constant yellow media speculation about the reasons I filed for divorce and whether myself and Mr.Priyadarsan will be getting back together. Clear and straight answer to that is NO and NEVER. The reasons I filed for divorce are very clear to my children (who have been a great support), Honorable courts and Mr. Priyadarsan. Those reasons are absolutely irreversible. Only I know what I went through and for what reasons I had put up with it which I am not prepared to discuss or disclose. The interviews and reports you may have read are all well SCRIPTED. Despite constant request from majority of the media I have maintained a graceful silence on this issue to date but some journalists and media houses have continued to hunt me for reasons best known to them. If journalism is all about continuing to publish untrue stories about the personal life of a single woman and mother and harass her mercilessly for silly favours then all I can say to you is I feel sorry you have such a horrible job. On the professional front, Priyadarshan is gearing up for his next project where he is reuniting with Akshay Kumar for the upcoming film ‘Bhooth Bangla’ which is scheduled to hit theatres on April 10.
