Russian missile and drone strikes killed at least 14 people across Ukraine overnight, including a child, local authorities said on Thursday, in one of the latest waves of missile and drone attacks in the ongoing war.The strikes targeted multiple cities, including the capital Kyiv and the southern port city of Odesa, causing widespread damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at least four people, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed in the capital, while dozens were injured. “A drone… literally flew into an 18-storey apartment block,” he said, describing the scale of destruction.“Rescue teams had rescued a mother and child” from a heavily damaged building, he added.Meanwhile, Ukraine’s air force said it had intercepted 31 missiles and 636 drones in the past 24 hours. The escalation comes amid continued cross-border attacks in the four-year conflict. According to news agency AFP, Russia has intensified nightly drone barrages, while Ukraine has also carried out strikes inside Russian territory.

According to AFP, seven people were killed in Odesa after “several waves” of missile and drone strikes, while additional casualties were reported in the central Dnipropetrovsk region. At least 45 people were wounded in Kyiv alone, including emergency workers.Explosions sparked fires, set cars ablaze, shattered windows, damaged buildings and facades of hotels across Kyiv, with rescue teams pulling survivors from the rubble of collapsed structures. In the northeastern city of Kharkiv, a drone strike injured at least two civilians, including a 77-year-old woman, officials said.

Heavy damage in Odesa and Dnipro

Outside the capital, the southern port city of Odesa was among the worst-hit areas, where seven people were killed and 11 injured in “several waves of missile and drone attacks,” regional officials said.In Dnipro, Regional Governor Oleksandr Ganzha said two people were killed and 27 were injured, with images showing residential buildings engulfed in flames.Officials also reported damage to infrastructure and homes across multiple regions, highlighting the scale of the coordinated assault.

Children killed in a Russian region

On the Russian side, two children aged five and 14 were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on the Black Sea region of Tuapse, local authorities said.
