Amavasya has great religious, spiritual, and astrological significance for Hindus. On this day, prayers are said to ancestors and fathers. Every month on Amavasya, people seek the blessings of their ancestors by performing a range of puja ceremonies. Individuals from many cities and regions adhere to their own customs and rituals.People get engaged in several puja rituals, including as Pitru Dosha Shanti Pooja, Hawan, Pitru Tarpan, and Pind Daan. Many people also donate food and water to the under privileged people. People travel to different places of worship on the day of Jyeshtha Amavasya to offer prayers that are very important. It is also seen to be virtuous to take a bath in the holy Ganga River.

On this fortunate day of Jyestha Amavasya, Shani Jayanti will also be observed. On this fortunate day, Shani Dev, the lord of justice and karma, was born. Shani dev is the son of Lord Surya and Mata Chhaya and considered as the strongest planet. He gives punishments and rewards based on your actions in life. You must light a mustard oil diya beneath a peepal tree to appease Lord Shani, and you can this mantra “Om Sham Shanaishcharaye Namah”.

Vat Savitri Vrat on Jyeshtha Amavasya 2026

Vat Savitri Vrat is observed by all the Hindu married women for the good health and longevity of their husbands and the fast is observed on the day of Jyeshtha Amavasya. They worship banyan tree or Vat Vriksha on this auspicious day. The day is celebrated with the greatest fervor and devotion. This festival is mainly celebrated in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Punjab.

1. People get up early and take a holy bath.2. To take a sacred dip in the Ganga River, a lot of people travel to Ganga ghats.3. It is recommended that devotees offer Arghya to Lord Surya on this holy day.4. Participate in charitable giving, which is regarded as a rewarding activity.5. Giving food and clothing to Brahmins is regarded as commendable.
