The world is celebrating International Women’s Day today. While the world celebrates this special day, India’s aviation industry has made history, a powerful milestone. IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, announced that it now has over 1,000 women pilots. By doing so, the airline has become the first and only airline in the country to achieve this landmark, a powerful example of how women are not only taking charge on land but of the skies too. In a field historically dominated by men. As per reports, women now make up 17.5% of the airline’s total pilot workforce. It is an incredible remarkable feat. It’s a figure that is more than three times the global average.A milestone in aviationIndiGo has set a benchmark by crossing the 1,000-women-pilots mark. As per the airline, the achievement reflects the growing aspirations of Indian women. It’s a great shift as women are choosing aviation as a career path as there are more training opportunities and mentorship programmes.Highlighting the “Girl Power”, Sukhjit Singh Pasricha, Group Chief Human Resources Officer at IndiGo, said: “On International Women’s Day, we are proud to announce that IndiGo now has over 1,000 women pilots, among the highest in the world. This milestone truly reflects the spirit of Girl Power at IndiGo. As we continue to give wings to the nation, we remain committed to creating more opportunities for talented women to soar and shape the future of aviation.“Women across the workforce
