There is an observable change in weather patterns set to lead to cooler temperatures in all regions across the United Kingdom in the first week of May, after a period of warmth where maximum temperatures reached around 25°C in England Friday. Weather experts forecast a combination of sunshine, clouds, and occasional showers along with cooler days and morning frosts caused by the change in wind direction.According to forecast reports from the Met Office, corroborated by media reports from the BBC, the change in weather patterns reflects a trend from warm settled weather to springtime variability. Meteorologists have attributed this to changes in pressure patterns and the development of northerly winds.Frost marked the start of Scotland’s bank holiday weekend weather, with rainfall in the northern sections as the weather front crossed over. Clear weather in other sections gave rise to a pleasant weather pattern. Northern Ireland had largely dry and sunny weather, while England and Wales saw fog lift early and clouds dominate. There was some sunshine in Northern England and Wales that raised day temperatures somewhat. In Southern areas, there were cloudy conditions with showers and some possibility of thunderstorms at isolated locations. The passage of colder air towards the south would bring cool night temperatures and local ground frosts, particularly in rural settings. The night will be colder in Scotland and Northern Ireland due to clear skies, and frost formation is possible. There is also a chance of some wintry showers in high grounds.Tuesday is expected to start cold and foggy and will see sunny spells and occasional showers throughout most of the northern and central parts of the country. On Wednesday, the coolest days of the week are expected due to stronger northerly breezes, causing cold days and showers here and there.Thursday will bring warmer weather due to a southerly flow that brings milder air. However, strong winds and steady rains could affect Scotland, while other parts of the country will experience scattered showers during the day. The next day will see neutral weather conditions with no dominant pressure system, but some showers will occur.Based on weather models, there is an indication that there could be low pressure that would form over the southern region this weekend, which will favour further rainfall in areas that have experienced less rain recently.
