Under 30, virgin, and no dating history: IITian divorcee's shocking ‘Perfect Bride’ demands leave matchmaker stunned
A 37-year-old IIT graduate’s extreme demands for a bride – under 30, Brahmin, virgin, and no dating history—sparked outrage after a matchmaker rejected his profile. His justification of ‘different for men’ highlighted blatant double standards. The incident ignited a wider debate on outdated expectations and misogyny in modern Indian matchmaking.

The arranged marriage scene in India can get pretty wild, with families – and sometimes the people themselves – coming up with expectations that feel completely out of touch. A recent story shared by matchmaker and dating coach Oendrila Kapoor has set social media buzzing for exactly this reason. On April 20, she talked about a 37-year-old divorced man who reached out to her platform looking for a match. His checklist? Someone under 30, a Brahmin, with zero past relationships – basically no dating history at all – and a virgin. The demands were so extreme that she ended up rejecting his profile altogether. What made it even more surprising was his background. He’s an IIT graduate and works as a director at a billion-dollar company, but his expectations sounded straight out of another era. As Oendrila described it, he clearly and confidently stated he wanted someone much younger, never married, never even in a relationship, and from a specific caste. He also insisted on a “zero body count,” and when she questioned him, he tried to justify it by citing some research claiming that women with more past partners are more likely to be unfaithful. Oendrila quickly pointed out the obvious flaw – by that logic, wouldn’t the same apply to him, given he was already married once? His response didn’t help his case. He brushed it off, saying it’s “different for men,” which only reinforced the double standards and underlying misogyny in his thinking.Oendrila also noted that even if someone matching his criteria does exist, she’d likely come from a very traditional background – one that probably wouldn’t agree to marry a 37-year-old divorcee anyway. The man, however, claimed he was already getting such proposals but didn’t trust matrimonial platforms due to scams, which is why he wanted her help to verify profiles. That was the final straw. She refused to take him on as a client, bluntly telling him that he might actually be the problem – not the system, given how unrealistic and regressive his expectations were. The story quickly took off online. While some people defended the man, saying his “preferences” should be respected, many others were shocked. Comments ranged from calling out the audacity to pointing out the hypocrisy, with some even linking such attitudes to the growing conversations around loneliness and dating struggles among men.All in all, the incident sparked a bigger debate about double standards, outdated expectations, and what people think they’re entitled to in modern relationships.
