Vaishakha Amavasya is one of the most significant days in Hinduism. The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance. On this auspicious day, devotees offer their sincere prayers to their ancestors. On this sacred day, people perform Pitru tarpan, Pitru Puja and they also do Pind daan for the salvation of their forefathers. Amavasya falls every month. Vaishakha Amavasya is going to be observed on April 17, 2026.

Vaishakha Amavasya 2026: Significance

Amavasya is the most significant day in Hinduism. The day has its own importance among Hindu because they offer their prayers to their ancestors and forefathers. The day is not considered good for performing auspicious activities like marriage, engagement, buying new home, and buying new vehicle. It is believed to bring auspiciousness in life if you take a holy dip in Ganga river on this specific day. People also perform puja to trinity god on this sacred day and seek their blessings. Devotees visit various holy places such as Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Prayagraj. Worshipping peepal tree on this day is also considered highly rewarding as it is believed that Tridev resides in that tree.

Vaishakha Amavasya 2026: Benefits

In Hinduism, the new moon day is known as Amavasya. For many religious rites and customs, it is seen as a fortunate day. Here are some of the advantages of this day and the reasons it is significant:1. One can seek the blessings of their ancestors if they pay respect to them. 2. This is an extremely a best time for spiritual purification – physically, mentally and spiritually. 3. People can seek abundance and gain positive karma by donating food, clothes and other essential items to the needy ones. 4. This is the best time for spiritual practices so one should get engaged in meditation, yoga, mantra chanting and offering prayers. 5. This is the best for removing your past sins and karmic baggage.

Vaishakha Amavasya 2026: Puja Rituals

1. People wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath.2. Prepare sattvik food and invite Brahmin at home.3. First prepared roti or chapati should be given to cow.4. Pitru Tarpan should be performed by the qualified priest and offer food to Brahmin.5. Give him clothes and dakshina and the male member of the family must touch his feet and seek blessings.6. Performing hawna or yajna on this day is also considered auspicious.7. Organise pitru gayatri on this day also removes pitru dosha.8. Feeding dogs, crows, ants is also one of the main part of the ritual.
