Purnima is the most powerful day, which is devoted to worship lord Vishnu. On this auspicious day, devotees of lord Vishnu worship him with devotion, observe fast from dawn to dusk and perform Satyanarayan puja. The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. Purnima falls every month and this time Purniam will occur in the month of Vaishakha so it will be called as Vaishakha Purnima. Purnima is going to take place on May 1, 2026.

This Vaishakha Purnima is one of the most potent days as Lord Buddha was born on this auspicious day so this day holds a special significance for Hindus and Buddhists.

Vaishakha Purnima 2026: Satyanarayan Puja

Purnima is one of the most sacred days as it is believed that Moon’s divine rays falls on this earth on this significant day, which makes it more powerful. Also, people perform Satyanarayan puja on this particular day and devotees perform various puja rituals and spiritual activities on this particular day to appease Lord Vishnu.

Vaishakha Purnima 2026: Significance

One of the most important days in Hinduism is Vaishakha Purnima. The day holds a high religious and spiritual value. People observe Satyanarayan Vrat and offer prayers to Lord Vishnu on this auspicious day. Devotees of Lord Vishnu celebrate this day with great enthusiasm and devotion. They travel to several places of worship and the Ganga Ghats to take holy bath in the Ganga. Since Lord Buddha was born on this auspicious day, it is also celebrated as Buddha Purnima.Devotees also worship Chandra Dev on this auspicious day, express their gratitude to him, and seek his blessings. It is believed that Lord Chandra bestow the devotees through his divine rays. Visiting the temples of Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna to offer their prayers and this is seen to be beneficial on this day.

Wake up early

This is very important to wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath.

Take a sankalp

If you are going to observe fast then you should take a sankalp first and then start your fasting.

Observe fast

Fasting is one of the main rituals which is performed from dawn till dusk and devotees can break their fast after worshipping Moon God.

Perform satynarayan puja

You should first take a wooden plank and then place an idol of Lord Vishnu along with Shree Yantra and Lord Ganesha. You can light a diya in front of the idol, adorn the idol with garland, offer bhog prasad (roasted wheat panjeeri and panchamrit). You can either invite a qualified priest to perfor satyanarayan puja.

Mantra chanting

Mantra chanting is one of the most powerful ways to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu so you must chant below mentioned Vishnu mantras:“Om Namo Bhagavate Vaasudevaye”“Achyutam Keshvam krishna Damodaram Ram Narayanam Janaki Vallabham” “Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare”

Completing of puja

You can complete the puja rituals by performing aarti – “Om Jai Lakshmi Ramana” and “Om Jai Jagdish Hare”

Worship Moon God

You should worship Lord Moon by offering him water by adding milk in that water. Seek his blessings by showing gratitude to him. You can chant Chandra mantras to appease him.

Distribute bhog

This is the second last but very important ritual of distributing the bhog prasad among family members because only after that it is advised to break your fast.

Fast breaking ritual

You can break your fast by having bhog prasad and then you can eat normal sattvik food. One must avoid to consume tamasik food items
