In Vedic traditions and beliefs, karmic debts are basically unresolved karma from the actions of past lives, spanning the present life, that create a cycle of suffering or challenges until they are balanced in the present life. This is known as “Sanchita Karma” in Vedic culture, which is basically the accumulated mountain of past actions that dictates our current struggles and is also known as “Prarabdha Karma. ” Reducing karmic debt isn’t about erasing the past, but about performing conscious, positive actions in the present life that work towards reducing past- life debts.Understanding patternsThe journey of reducing karmic debts begins with recognizing the patterns of sudden losses, delays, conflicts, or any other repeating negative cycles in relationships, finances, or health. This is the first step to dissolving karmic debt. It is a must to work on self-awareness and reflect daily on triggers through mindful actions and empowering conscious change over spontaneous reactions.

Practice forgivenessAnother important way is to forgive yourself and others to release resentment’s hold, which is the core of karmic burden. Start with a quiet ritual: write apologies or gratitudes, then burn the paper. This consistent practice can free the mind and soul from past harms.Perform kind deedsAnother simple way to reduce karmic debts is by dealing with negative karma through selfless acts like anonymous donations, helping neighbors, and also feeding birds.

Embrace detachmentLet go of attachments to outcomes, possessions, or grudges through mindfulness walks or decluttering.
