Nirjala Ekadashi is one of the most auspicious days in Hindu religion. The day holds a great spiritual significance among Hindu devotees. Ekadashi is devoted to Lord Vishnu and devotees pbserve fast on this sacred day starting from dawn and it ends on the next day; dawadashi tithi. They offer their sincere prayers to Lord Vishnu and seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu. Nirjala Ekadashi is one of the most prominent Ekadashi’s and devotees abstain from water on this specific day. According to the panchang, Nirjala Ekadashi is going to be observed on 11th day of shukla paksha in the month of Jyeshtha. This year, Nirjala Ekadashi fast will be observed on June 25, 2026.

Nirjala Ekadashi 2026: Significance

Ekadashi is one of the most sacred days in Hindu religion. The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Vishnu devotees. There are total 24 Ekadashi observances in a year and Nirjala Ekadashi is one of the most significant Ekadashi’s which is observed during the month of Jyeshtha. Nirjala Ekadsashi means fasting without consuming water and food. Devotees can consume water only after breaking the fast on dwadashi tithi during parana time. Nirjala Ekadashi is one of the most sacred fasts and a large number of devotees observe this fast with devotion and dedication to appease Lord Vishnu. On this particular day, devotees perform various religious and spiritual activities and seek blessings of Lord Shri Hari.

Nirjala Ekadashi 2026: Puja Rituals

1. Devotees wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath during Brahma Muhurat. 2. Offer Arghya or water to Lord Surya and then set up an altar to place an idol of Lord Vishnu. 3. Light a diya with desi ghee in front of the idol and then invoke the idol. 4. Adorn the idol of Lord Vishnu with garland and offer him tulsi patra. 5. Apply chandan tilak on the forehead of Lord Vishnu’s idol and offer him homemade sweets. 6. Chant various mantras to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu. 7. Devotees can break their fast next day on Dwadashi tithi during parana time.
