When Maharani of Baroda Radhikaraje Gaekwad stunned in a Kalamkari saree with an Afghan hasli

And then came the jewellery moment.

Instead of pairing the saree with predictable temple jewellery or layered gold pieces, Radhikaraje styled it with an antique Afghan Hasli necklace along with silver earrings from Morocco.

Now that’s where the look became really interesting.

The bold tribal-style neckpiece added character without stealing attention from the saree itself. It gave the outfit a slightly bohemian, well-travelled edge while still keeping the overall aesthetic deeply Indian.

That balance is hard to pull off. Too much fusion styling can quickly start looking confused. But here, everything felt intentional and relaxed – like personal style rather than trend styling.

She understands the real beauty of saree dressing

One thing Radhikaraje consistently gets right is understanding that elegance doesn’t need overcomplication.

Her saree looks rarely rely on flashy blouses, excessive embellishments, or trendy drapes. Instead, the focus stays on textiles, craftsmanship, and quiet styling choices.

And honestly, that’s refreshing right now.

In a time when social media fashion often feels overly curated, her approach reminds people why sarees became timeless in the first place. The garment itself already carries so much grace that it doesn’t need ten extra things fighting for attention.

Whether she’s wearing handwoven silks, traditional prints, or heirloom drapes, there’s always a sense of ease in the way she carries them.

You notice her before you notice the outfit — which is usually the sign of truly great style.
