Ramesh Gera (67 yrs.), an Engineering graduate from NIT Kurukshetra, Founder & Director, Akarshak Institute of advanced farming (AIAF), originally from Noida, has relocated to Panchkula about 2 yrs. before. His contribution towards national transformation in the field of resource efficient agricultural practices is significant, noticeable and clearly visible across the length and breadth of the country.
This is important to mention here that Mr. Gera started his journey in advanced farming at 58 yrs., after his retirement from his 35 years of glorious working in multinational corporations. During his initial years of startup he faced a lot pf difficulties resulting to multiple failures and financial losses, but he never lost his courage and continued with relentless day and night efforts through self-devised research work and experimentation in the field of advanced farming, as a result today he is a renowned personality across the country, rather his glorious fame through success stories has crossed the national boundraies.
His relentless, day and night efforts in developing technologies for Indoor Saffron Cultivation, Soil-less Hydroponic farming and Multilayer organic farming have been creating a visible impact in uplifting the earnings of farmers thereby improving their livelihood and ultimately uplifting their status in the society. Recently his Panchkula based Institute, M/S AIAF, has successfully developed the indoor technique for Cordyceps (Keedajadi) cultivation also.
The institute, equipped with modern, state of the art infrastructure and facilities for imparting training to farmers is conducting education and training programs on all the subjects as cited above, they have established live and working labs on all the subjects which they use for demo purpose and experimentation for the candidates joining their training programs. The candidates come from all across the country and many overseas also. Important to mention here is, the provide free training to candidates coming from average income group. They conduct workshops in educational institutions for spreading the awareness amongst students free of any charges. As a result, the farming is now becoming a preferred business option amongst the educated youth of India.
