Alia Bhatt was a shining star at the BAFTA 2026 Awards, where she dazzled in a glamorous Gucci gown reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe. As she presented an award, her conversation about her contrasting future projects, the explosive action flick ‘Alpha’ and the visually stunning ‘Love and War’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, sparked excitement.

Alia Bhatt used her BAFTA 2026 appearance to spotlight her upcoming films ‘Alpha’ and ‘Love and War,’ even as she made her debut as a presenter at the 79th British Academy Film Awards in London. The actress also shared exciting updates on her highly anticipated 2026 releases. Dressed in a stunning Marilyn Monroe-inspired Gucci gown, Alia opened up about the contrast between her upcoming action entertainer ‘Alpha’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s sweeping romance ‘Love and War,’ admitting she is “curious” to see how the world responds to these two vastly different journeys.

Speaking about her projects, Alia Bhatt said, “I have two very different films coming out this year. One is an action entertainer, Alpha, and then there’s Love and War as well. Complete quintessential Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie with love, drama, and all of that. I mean a lot of years of hard work and love and honesty gone into making this movie. As it does with every movie. I’m curious actually to see the response to both the films. I can never tell while I’m in it. When it’s out there, just hand it over to the world.” Her comments added a personal note to a high-profile global event.

Alia Bhatt at the 2026 BAFTA Awards

As reported by Hindustan Times, making her debut on the BAFTA stage, Alia added a desi touch to the ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall. Presenting the award for Best Film Not in the English Language, she opened her speech in Hindi. “Namaskar! Agla award ek aisi film ke liye hai, jo angrezi mein nahi hai” (Greetings! The next award is for a film that is not in the English language), she said.Bhatt then told the audience, “Don’t reach for the subtitles just yet. I was only saying in Hindi that the next award is for a film not in the English language. Because while film speaks in countless voices, what we always celebrate is the language of cinema. And that one we all speak fluently. And the incredible nominees are.”A clip of her Hindi greeting later surfaced online and drew praise from social media users who applauded her for representing her roots on a global platform.

For the ceremony, Alia Bhatt chose a custom silver Gucci gown with a white stole. The look drew inspiration from Marilyn Monroe. Speaking to British Vogue, she said, “I’m very excited about the look. Because I’m a presenter I wanted to bring the glam, but also keep it really elegant.” It marked her first appearance at the BAFTAs.
