Bandar Full Movie Collection: ‘Bandar’ box office collection Day 2 [LIVE]: Anurag Kashyap’s Bobby Deol starrer crawls towards Rs 1 crore on first Saturday | Hindi Movie News

Anurag Kashyap‘s gritty legal drama ‘Bandar’ starring Bobb Deol has been one of the most talked-about Indian films of 2025 on the festival circuit. Released on June 5, 2026, the dark thriller is off to a muted start at the domestic box office. Driven by an intense lead performance from Bobby Deol, the adult-rated film generated substantial pre-release interest owing to its real-life inspirations and a controversial narrative. However, early box office tracking for Saturday indicates a sharp decline in theatrical momentum. With stiff competition from the Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ for screen slots, the real-time live collections for Day 2 reflect a steep uphill climb for the investigative crime thriller.

‘Bandar’ Day 1 box office collection recap

‘Bandar’ opened on June 5, 2026, with a Day 1 net collection of Rs. 0.50 crore across 1,365 shows with the domestic gross standing at Rs. 0.60 crore and net at Rs. 0.50 crore. While the numbers are low by conventional Bollywood standards, the opening is not entirely unexpected for a film of this nature. For an Anurag Kashyap-directed, subject-driven crime thriller, the real question was always whether word-of-mouth from Day 1 audiences would sustain and grow the film’s footprint into the weekend.

More about ‘Bandar’

Directed by Anurag Kashyap and internationally titled Monkey in a Cage, ‘Bandar’ had its world premiere in the Special Presentations section at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, where it generated significant critical attention. The film follows Samar, a fading television star played by Bobby Deol, whose life spirals after his former partner accuses him of rape. Navigating a legal system stacked against him, Bandar is an unflinching examination of power, public perception, justice and institutional failure, inspired by real events. The ensemble cast includes Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Sapna Pabbi, Raj B. Shetty, Jitendra Joshi, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Riddhi Sen, alongside Nigerian influencer-turned-actor Agu Stanley Chiedozie (known as Istanboss) in his Bollywood debut.Notably, the movie cleared the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a strict ‘A’ (Adult) certificate without a single visual cut, though heavy profanities were famously replaced with milder terms like “banjo.”
