‘Beef’, the acclaimed drama about petty clashes that spiral into full-blown feuds, is back for a second season. This time, instead of two strangers ruining each other’s lives over road rage, the chaos centres on two unhappy couples locked in a class war at a glamorous Los Angeles country club. With a star-studded new cast, a South Korean billionaire, a morally questionable plastic surgeon, and a pair of young employees caught in the middle, season 2 looks set to be every bit as deliciously unhinged as the first.
Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan as Josh and Lindsay
At the heart of season 2 is Josh, played by Oscar Isaac, the general manager of a ritzy LA country club who desperately craves the wealth and prestige of the clients he serves. He is married to Lindsay, played by Carey Mulligan, an interior decorator who resents her husband for letting go of their shared dreams. After a fundraiser one night, the couple’s argument turns violent, and they realise they are being watched.Mulligan is a three-time Oscar nominee, recognised for her work in ‘An Education’, ‘Promising Young Woman’, and ‘Maestro’. She is also known for playing Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann’s 2013 adaptation of ‘The Great Gatsby’. Isaac is a Hollywood powerhouse who has played roles ranging from a ‘Star Wars’ rebel to an eccentric tech billionaire in ‘Ex Machina’, and most recently won acclaim for Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’. The two have previously worked together in the Coen Brothers’ 2013 folk film ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’.
Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton as Ashley and Austin
The witnesses to Josh and Lindsay’s violent altercation are Ashley and Austin, two country club employees sent to return their boss’s forgotten wallet. Newly engaged and optimistic but increasingly anxious about their financial future, they begin to wonder how they can use what they saw to their advantage.Spaeny has a remarkable run of credits to her name, including ‘Mare of Easttown’, the Priscilla Presley biopic ‘Priscilla’, ‘Alien: Romulus’, and the ‘Knives Out’ sequel ‘Wake Up Dead Man’. Melton, formerly of ‘Riverdale’, earns significant critical praise alongside Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman in ‘May December’ and stars in ‘Warfare’.
Youn Yuh-jung and Song Kang-ho as Chairwoman Park and Dr Kim
Complicating matters at the club is the arrival of Chairwoman Park, a South Korean billionaire who purchases the property and plans to shake things up. Her husband, Dr Kim, is a celebrated plastic surgeon whose presence gradually pulls him deeper into the season’s unfolding chaos.Youn is best known internationally for her Oscar-winning supporting performance in ‘Minari’ and her role in ‘Pachinko’. Song is a familiar face to international audiences from Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning ‘Parasite’, as well as ‘The Host’ and ‘Snowpiercer’.
William Fichtner and Mikaela Hoover as Troy and Ava
Every country club has its insufferable elite, and Troy and Ava fill that role in season 2. Troy treats Josh like a friend while seeing him as little more than staff, and Ava does the same with Lindsay. Fichtner is a recognisable face from blockbusters including ‘Armageddon’, ‘Black Hawk Down’, and ‘The Accountant’. Hoover is best known for playing journalist Cat Grant in 2025’s ‘Superman’.
Seoyeon Jang and Matthew Kim as Eunice and Woosh
Eunice is Chairwoman Park’s translator and assistant, quietly more formidable than she first appears. Woosh is the club’s charming new tennis pro, flirting with everyone while steering clients toward expensive treatments from Dr Kim back in South Korea.Jang builds her career primarily in Korean television, with ‘Beef’ marking her first major English-language role. Matthew Kim, better known as BM or Big Matthew, is a K-Pop star making his acting debut here, having worked with co-ed K-Pop group Kard and released his own solo music.
