Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh's film is 'united by the religion of work,' reveals director Aditya Datt
The ‘Gunmaster G9’ sets in Borivali host daily interfaith prayers, a tradition director Aditya Datt began with ‘Table No. 21’ to promote inclusivity. Starring Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh, the film unites faith and filmmaking. Meanwhile, Hashmi leads ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, while Genelia continues her acclaimed cinematic journey.

The sets of ‘Gunmaster G9’ built in Borivali may seem like a typical action film location at first look. Since production of the film, featuring Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh, started last year, the team has upheld a tradition cherished by director Aditya Datt: daily prayers from various religions before filming, ensuring everyone of every faith feels welcome on set.

‘Gunmaaster G9’ set traditions

Director Aditya Datt verified the tradition, noting it originated instinctively during his 2013 debut, ‘Table No 21.’ That small step revealed the power of fostering an inclusive vibe. As per Mid-day, Datt elaborated, “From my very first film, the day’s shoot on my set has always begun with a Ganpati aarti. But in 2013, after the aarti, I asked for prayers from other faiths [to be included] as well. People from different beliefs and different homes all felt included—that day the energy felt different. Since then, it hasn’t been just a ritual; it’s a reminder that before cinema, we are human beings sharing faith and respect.”

Emraan Hashmi’s next rumor

Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi is rumored to star in the upcoming ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge.’ As reported in Letterboxd, he’s set to play the main villain. After Dhurandhar’s success, Aditya Dhar is gearing up for the sequel, slated for release next month. The first part became a huge hit and quickly turned into a cultural trend. The much-awaited sequel is gearing up for a theatrical release on March 19. Earlier this month, fans got their first look through an intense teaser that hinted at Hamza’s (Ranveer Singh) mission for revenge in Lyari after the death of Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna). This time, Hamza’s path crosses with Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal) and his shifty superior, the shadowy figure known as Bade Sahab.

Genelia Deshmukh’s film journey

On the other hand, Genelia Deshmukh kicked off her acting journey with the Hindi film ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ in 2003 and gained notice with the Tamil hit ‘Boys’ that year. She won acclaim for her roles in the 2008 rom-coms Santosh Subramaniam and ‘Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na.’ Her film credits also include ‘Satyam,’ ‘Masti,’ ‘Sye,’ ‘Sachein,’ ‘Happy,’ ‘Dhee,’ ‘Ready,’ ‘Katha,’ ‘Urumi,’ ‘Force,’ ‘Velayudham,’ and ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya.‘
