Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer ‘Karuppu’ continued its theatrical run with another decline in collections.The film had enjoyed a strong opening phase during its initial weeks. However recent trends suggest that collections are gradually slowing down at the ticket window.
Day 21 earnings witness sharp drop
According to Sacnilk, ‘Karuppu’ collected Rs 90 lakhs on Day 21. The latest figure represented a 41.9 percent drop from Day 20 earnings of Rs 1.55 Cr.The film earned the amount across 1,860 shows. Following the latest addition, total India gross collections reached Rs 218.89 Cr. Total India net collections have now touched Rs 189.35 Cr.The Tamil version continued leading the film’s earnings. On Day 21, the Tamil version collected Rs 85 lakhs with occupancy of 16.0 percent across 1,665 shows.The Telugu version added Rs 5 lakhs and recorded occupancy of 19.0 percent from 195 shows. The state-wise gross report also showed Tamil Nadu maintaining the strongest contribution. Tamil Nadu earned Rs 80 lakhs on Day 21.The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region contributed Rs 10 lakhs. Karnataka added Rs 5 lakhs while Kerala collected Rs 6 lakhs. Other regions contributed Rs 1 lakh.
Occupancy numbers remain modest
The Tamil 2D version recorded overall occupancy of 14.63 percent on Day 21. Morning occupancy began at 9.38 percent and increased slightly during later shows.Afternoon occupancy stood at 14.31 percent. Evening shows recorded 12.31 percent occupancy. Night occupancy climbed to 17.31 percent.The Telugu version recorded overall occupancy of 10.20 percent. Morning occupancy stood at 6.60 percent. Afternoon occupancy reached 9.40 percent. Evening and night shows remained at 9.20 percent and 9.40 percent respectively.Despite the slowdown, the film’s third-week collection has now reached Rs 21.20 Cr.
Worldwide total approaches Rs 300 Cr mark
‘Karuppu’ also continued adding to its overseas total. The film collected Rs 25 lakhs overseas on Day 21.Total overseas gross collections have now reached Rs 79.50 Cr.
