During the event, the actress was opening up about aging and the societal expectations that women have of themselves.

What does the quote mean?

The quote from Jamie Lee Curtis is all about society and how often certain ideas and expectations are pushed onto people, especially women, as they age. Oftentimes, it is said to be grateful for what you get and stop at that. Lee says, “It is not ungrateful to want more”, citing that if you want more than what society expects from you, then it is not wrong to do so.She aims to explain that it is not wrong thing to want more out of life. You can be grateful for your past and your present while still being hungry for the future and wanting more out of things and life in general. She continues and says, “It means there’s a fire in your belly, you’re alive and you want to go and do things”, further adding that if you feel the need to want more, then it points towards the fact that you have the power to look past everything else and set your eyes on what you want.The word “fire” in her quote is equivalent to having passion, curiosity, and drive for something new. The quote ends with “you’re alive, and you want to go and do things”, pointing at the fact that life does not stop as you start aging and growing old. She comments on how having the ambition to do new things and try more is something that is possible to do for all ages, regardless of who they are.Jamie Lee Curtis continues to be a reckoning force in cinema and continues to work on all kinds of projects despite what anyone else may have to say about her age.

About Jamie Lee Curtis

Curtis was born on November 22, 1958, and comes from a background in Hollywood. She is the daughter of ‘Some Like It Hot’ actor Tony Curtis and ‘Psycho’ actress, Janet Leigh. She started working in the industry in 1978, when she landed her debut role in the horror classic film ‘Halloween.’ Her debut film also became one of her career-defining works. She led the ‘Halloween’ franchise for over 4 decades up until the last film, ‘Halloween Ends’, which was released in 2022.Over the years, she worked in all kinds of films and other projects, spanning across various genres, including romance, as well as comedy, chick flicks, and action as well. Some of her most well-known films include ‘Freaky Friday’, ‘True Lies’, ‘A Fish Called Wanda’, and ‘Trading Places.’ In more recent years, she also appeared in big-budget projects such as ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, as well as ‘Knives Out’ and the TV show ‘The Bear’.Beyond her work as an actress, she has also ventured into other career streams, including being the author of children’s books. She has written and published around more than a dozen children’s books so far.
