'Ramayana' actor slams allegations of of AI usage in the teaser: 'I shot with Ranbir Kapoor, with real crowd'

The teaser of ‘Ramayana’, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, has been the talk of social media since its release. While his divine appearance has earned widespread admiration, the film’s visuals have also sparked debate, with some viewers questioning the VFX and even speculating about the use of AI.One particular moment from the teaser grabbed instant attention online. In the scene, Rama walks through Ayodhya as people shower him with flowers. However, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that as the camera angle changes, a background actor’s turban appears to shift colour from blue to purple. The clip quickly went viral, with many pointing to it as potential proof of AI-generated imagery.

Addressing the speculation, actor Saket Patel, who appears in the scene, took to social media to clarify the situation. “I’m Saket Patel. I am an actor, and believe me, I’m not AI,” he said in a video message, clarifying that the sequence was shot with real actors on actual sets. He added, “People are fully convinced that I’m AI generated. I shot for this two years ago with real crowd, real set, real me and real Ranbir Kapoor in front of me.” He also revealed that the scene had been filmed nearly two years ago, adding a candid observation about audience reactions today. “In 2026, if something looks too nice, people call it fake,” he remarked.Amid the ongoing conversation, Hrithik Roshan came out in support of the film and its creators. In a note shared online, he applauded filmmakers who attempt to push cinematic boundaries, citing projects like ‘Ramayana’, ‘Kalki’, and ‘Baahubali’. He urged audiences to be more receptive to varied visual styles, suggesting that what some may label as “bad VFX” could simply be an unfamiliar aesthetic. He also encouraged viewers to focus on the intent behind the storytelling rather than evaluating visuals solely on how realistic they appear.Mounted on a massive budget of ₹4,000 crore, ‘Ramayana’ stands among the most ambitious Indian films ever made. The cast also includes Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film’s first installment is scheduled for release in October 2026, with the second part expected to follow in 2027.
