Rana Daggubati recalls gruelling six-year journey on SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’: ‘It was pushing everyone's boundaries’
Rana Daggubati revealed the six-year filming of ‘Baahubali’ was a constant learning curve, with the team pioneering grand war sequences and visual effects. He described the excitement of creating something unprecedented on screen, a feeling that fueled the cast and crew. The actor also shared a heartwarming airport encounter showcasing the film’s enduring impact.

Rana Daggubati earned immense fame after he portrayed the menacing Bhallaladeva in the SS Rajamouli’s epic ‘Baahubali’ franchise alongside Prabhas. Recently, the actor and producer spoke about his time in the film, explaining the complications of filming such a grand project, as the team itself was discovering how to shoot during the process.

Rana Dagguabati shares that every day was a challenge

Rana Dagguabati shared that the film took many years to finish and shared that it was not just about one hard scene while speaking with Pinkvilla. He said, “We’ve shot that for like six years or something. So most of those were like that.” He explained that the team was learning while making the film. Everything was new and big.

Excitement kept everyone going

The ‘Kaantha’ actor said the film pushed everyone; there were no big war movies like this before. He shared, “It was not like we had so many war films that were made.” He also said action and visual effects were not that strong at that time, and the movie needed a master like Rajamouli. “It was pushing everyone’s boundaries. It needed a master like Rajamouli and a team that came together for that vision. Usually, in a film, we can’t last for that long in our minds,” he quoted. Rana said the team stayed strong because the work was exciting. He added, “When you go onto a set and say you’re doing this for the first time ever on screen, and that’s a high that nothing else can counter.” He further mentioned that using things like chariots and maces felt special. That feeling made everything worth it.

The after-effect of ‘Baahubali’

Rana also spoke about his look change after the film. He said he was not sure if people would still know him. He shared a moment at the airport. He said, “I took my mask off. He said, ‘Wow, that’s King Bhallaladeva.’” Rana said that made him happy. He said, “This film is aging beautifully.” He ended by saying cinema stays forever and its impact never fades. On the work front, Rana is now working on his next film ‘Neelira’, which is releasing on April 3.
