More about Sonny Rollins

Rollins was known for continuously experimenting with his sounds and opting for eclectic genres and mixing them with jazz. In 1957, he released the album ‘Way Out West,’ which was a big hit for his own personal take on cowboy and country music. On the other hand, even rock music fans got a taste of his talent when he worked with The Rolling Stones on their 1981 album ‘Tattoo You.’ He had a saxophone solo featured on their song ‘Waiting on a Friend’ from the album.Over the years, on multiple occasions, Rollins would cite that he was never quite satisfied with what he had done in life and wanted to learn more about music. In 2012, he held his last official concert, and completely retired from the music scene in 2014.Rollins’ passing was met with massive shock as he was one of the greatest musical pioneers of his time. He leaves behind his legacy in all of the music that he worked on throughout the duration of his career.
