'Toxic' seals a mammoth Tamil Nadu deal, Yash’s post 'KGF 2' market sets the stage
Yash’s upcoming film ‘Toxic’ has secured a massive Rs 63 crore Tamil Nadu theatrical deal, a testament to his post-‘KGF 2’ market power. This record-breaking advance, achieved through a multi-distributor strategy, underscores sky-high expectations for a huge opening. The pan-Indian project, featuring a star-studded cast, is poised for a commercially powerful release on March 19.

Trade buzz around ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ has intensified with a huge Tamil Nadu theatrical deal that highlights the film’s strong pre-release momentum. The rights for the state closed at a staggering Rs 63 crore advance on a commission basis, placing it among the biggest deals in the territory in recent years. Instead of opting for a single buyer, the film will follow a multi-distributor release pattern to ensure wider reach, a better screen count, and strong openings across urban and B and C centres.

Structured release to match sky-high expectations

According to The Hollywood Reporter India, the launch in Tamil Nadu is handled with precision, with territories allocated to all major players in the state to both achieve maximum reach for the film and capitalize on the hysteria Yash has created. The demand for Yash in Tamil Nadu played a huge role in this deal’s success, as expectations are for a massive first-day opening at theatres.

KGF effect boosts market confidence

Trade analysts link the size of this deal to the phenomenal success of ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2,’ which expanded Yash’s theatrical pull in the state and made him a bankable name beyond his home industry. The film has also locked major pre-release business in other territories, signalling strong nationwide demand. With record valuations in multiple regions, the project is already seen as one of the most commercially powerful releases of the year, even before hitting screens.

Pan-Indian scale and star-studded cast

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film features a strong ensemble including Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria. Shot in multiple languages and planned as a grand pan-Indian release, the film is set to arrive in theatres on March 19, with the Tamil Nadu deal alone signalling the scale of the opening that awaits.
