Fasting has its own importance in Hindu religion. This is a spiritual practice, which people do for spiritual growth and stay positive. Fasting also have various spiritual and health benefits. People regularly observe fast on different days such as Monday for Lord Shiva, Thursday for Guru Brihaspati, Friday for Vaibhav Lakshmi, Ekadashi and Purnima for Lord Vishnu while there are important observances in a year, when people observe fast on specific days such as Karwachauth, Vat Savitri, Ganesh Chaturthi and Mahashivratri. Fasting is an act of devotion and people keep fast to seek blessings of the Lord and Goddess. This has several benefits from physical, mental, psychological, to emotional. There are many people who think fasting is useless but we must explain here that it holds a deep spiritual significance as it can help you in many ways and today in this article, we will discuss the spiritual benefits of observing fast.

Spiritual benefits of keeping fast:

Purify your mind and soul

Fasting helps to cleanse your mind, body and soul. It helps in inner purification and enhance spiritual growth. When you keep fast, it makes you feel light and it reduces your negative thoughts, overthinking and anxiety. This can create the space for positive thoughts and make you spiritual aware.

Full control over your senses

Once you start keeping fast, gradually your mind stops thinking about the food and it adopts the habit of staying without food whole day and not craving for anything. Your mind plays an important role in controlling your senses. In your daily life, you always have an urge of eating food but when you start observing fast, your will power becomes stronger.

Reduces Negative Karma

Fasting is one of the most powerful ways to remove your negative karmas that you have done in the past or present. This removes the negative energy from the environment and make your aura extremely positive. Fasting helps to gain the positive karma or punya karma, when you surrender yourself to the divine power.

Enhances Devotion

While observing fast, you usually engage yourself in various spiritual and religious activities. These spiritual activities strengthen your faith and devotion for the divine power. During that time period, you become detached from the worldly pleasures and feel the deep connection with the God.

Balance your chakras and energy

According to spirituality, fasting helps to align your chakras and balance your energy. Your body feel light during fast and your mind and body have a balanced connection with each other. Your energy starts improving and regular fasting balance all your chakras.
