In a world where the discussion on menstruation is limited by factors such as stigmas, myths, and misunderstandings, Hiteshi Dutta has proven to be a game-changer. She is an entrepreneurial spirit who has always been a champion of sustainable development and founder of organizations like the Suharth Foundation, with the aim of empowering women through awareness and education as well as providing them with all the necessary menstrual health products.
With the simple belief that no girl should be denied opportunities just because she was ignorant about menstruation, Hiteshi has made sure that she continues making a significant social impact in the lives of adolescent girls, women, and other students in India. Through the efforts of Suharth Foundation, thousands of adolescent girls have come to learn that the menstrual period is part of their biological make-up.
It is the holistic attitude to issues of education and empowerment that makes her initiatives unique. Her awareness campaigns cover not only menstrual hygiene, but also other critical topics such as adolescent health, reproductive wellness, proper hygiene, emotional well-being, and even self-care. Thus, through creating a comfortable environment for girls and fostering free conversations, she enables them to learn more and become more aware and confident about their bodies.
In addition, realizing how critical the aspects of child safety and awareness are, she runs POCSO act workshops among children and adolescents and educates them on the subject of personal boundaries, safety, and their rights. As a result of Hiteshi’s work, today many communities exist which possess greater knowledge and confidence.
Hiteshi also attaches great importance to issues of accessibility to the resources needed. Having organized many distribution campaigns on sanitary hygiene for girls, orphaned children, tribal people, and poor women, she managed to help the deprived to lead healthy lives and maintain their dignity and well-being.
Being an active proponent of sustainable living, Hiteshi has also been advocating for eco-friendly menstruation management methods. She strongly advocates for the concept of sustainability wherein the solutions devised are not only effective but also sustain future generations.
Hiteshi’s relentless efforts towards community development, awareness creation, and empowerment have gained her much recognition. However, for Hiteshi, achievement does not lie in accolades but in the difference created by bringing about a change in the lives of people through knowledge, awareness, and empowerment.
Today, her mission goes beyond individual efforts. Through collaborative efforts of schools, educational institutions, NGOs, medical practitioners, companies, and their CSR activities, she endeavors to create awareness around menstrual dignity, children safety, women empowerment, and sustainable social development.
Each awareness program, each effort to reach out to communities and each life she touches bears testimony to her relentless pursuit of creating a society where there is no more stigma due to ignorance and empowerment reigns supreme among all.
